LoL...it saved my Logitech remote this morning after my 3 year old son decided to dunk it in the kitchen sink. After the day in tupperware of uncooked rice, my universal remote is back in business. biggrin.gif


I know most electronics these days respond well to rice.  However, I find Senns and Beyers prefer potatoes whereas Grados seem to prefer dried pasta w/ gnocchi as a distant second.

Saw this on ebay:

 

Sennheiser HD800  Audiophile Headphones. Brand New in box. Received them as a gift, but they are too big for me, and I dont even have the connector to play on my Ipod as I dont have an Amplifier either, so never used these at all.

In all seriousness, the issue would be the fact that the money is transferred through the cc or paypal module on Sabbath/holidays - thus the Jew is getting the money from the transaction on the Sabbath.  Some companies skirt around this with secondary accounts or rely on other more lenient rulings.  Chasidim such as B&H and Adorama will invariably take the stricter approach.

 

The other issues these companies have is causing (however indirectly) another jew to transgress the Sabbath.  ie even if the money goes to a temp account not run by a Jew, you're still running a website that a Jew could potentially order from on the Sabbath, thus making you an indirect accessory to one of the more serious transgressions in Jewish law.

I get that part.  I don't get why they can't just queue up the orders and wait.  Is their a reason for that which I'm unaware of?

They are still selling the merchandise and operating a store by taking orders.  Doesn't matter that the transaction isn't completed.  Even if I refuse to take you money, I'm still running the store.  Having the site up is like passive advertising when the store is closed as if you were window shopping while it's closed.

That's just as silly of a dodge but in the opposite direction.  If it was a physical store and while they were closed I slipped a note under the door that said, "Swing by my place on Wednesday with the usual. I'll pay you then." would they have to ignore it or something?

 

But I was just asking what their justification was since I didn't get it, not asking you to defend it, so thank you.

They don't have to ignore it.  There's no one at the store, you are doing the work, they are at home doing nothing.  Go ahead and hack their system and place an order, that's on you, not them.  You seem to be having a really hard time w/ the Sabbath concept for some reason, not sure why.
