1/8" stereo jack (thick panel?)

I searched and found a thread I started almost 6 years ago on this same topic.eek.gif

I'm looking for a beefy 1/8" stereo jack to use in my car.  I ended up buying a jack 6 years ago from radio shack to use for that installation.  As I suspected, it failed after a few years.

I'm on a new car now, looking to do the same type of installation.  I need to mount a mini jack in an inconspicuous location to use as an aux input.  Ideally, I would like to use a jack that is inserted from the front so I wouldn't need to disassemble the whole dash if something goes wrong at the jack.  Most of the mini jacks I see mount from the back and are held on by a nut on the front face.  I am thinking about using a 1/4" jack like this one from neutrik, but if there is a 1/8" option somewhere, that would be better.

I have never been too into all of the DIY things, and I know you guys know what's out there much better than I do.  Thanks for any pointers.

I see the same thing. The 1/8" jacks just aren't built as tough as some of the better 1/4" jacks. If you plan to keep the car for more than a couple years, get the Neutrik.

Yes, looks so.
