Amazing and Dynamic HE6 - Page 2

Frank, one more question if I may, in your review you indicated "Fang had been over my house for the mini meet and had brought the HE6 and some other prototypes he is working on" Besides the HE-6p, is there a prototype for HE-7 or the next version of the HE-6? If so, how does he want to improve on the HE-6?  If not did Fang talk about things that he would like to change for the next version?  Thanks.

The two prototypes he brought over were the HE6P which is a planar magnetic that can be driven off portable and almost any amp it is a 38ohm 91DB planar. He also had the 399.00 dynamic they are producing. He made no mention of any other flagship other than the HE6. Exciting products coming and a headphone for every budget. One thing he made very clear his dedication to headphones in every budget.

great review... a very easy and succinct read.    Having owned a pair of Thunderpants, I am familiar with what a proper pair of orthos is capable of.  I can only imagine how wonderful the HE-6 must sound.

I am very curious to see how The JH audio JH3A is compared to the likes of the HE6 and LCD-2.

If any IEM could ever come close, this may be the one.

I have to admit though, i have a hard time beleiving ANY IEM ever, could reproduce those sweet ortho/tube mids.  Here's hoping.   I am sure there will be at least a few ultra rich folks who are able to compare the jh3a to he6/lcd2

Ben thanks so much for the kind words. Orthos are special indeed.

Hey Frank, great writeup. I am listening to the HE-6 going through my well recorded blues files and it is a joy. Looking forward to the HE-6p also.

In the end, the ease of driving will likely lead me to get the LCD-2. But thanks to your review, the HE-6 are absolutely on my watchlist for future headphones.

Much appreciated.

Yes, you should be all set. I am driving them with a SS speaker amplifier that puts out 5 watts and 5 amperes in 50 ohms and it is more than enough. It controls them great and sound beautiful. Even my WA5-LE with 1.5 watts drives them great out of the high impedance output.

They are a feat of notable accomplishment.

Listening to Genesis "Silver Rainbow" and getting my ears boxed by Phil's drums.

I'm using a 40 watt tube speaker amp and have driven these headphones to mini speaker volumes without distortion (not on the ear).

Nicely done, Frank.

They are growing on my too, but I am not sure they are keepers for me yet. Definitely on par or better than offerings at this price which is all that matters really.

Well written. Thanks for sharing Frank. One of these days I'll have to give the HE-6 a try.
