Hi, thanks for the splendid theme. But just one thing, can you suggest me a unicode font with that size? I've to change to unifont since it's the only one that fully supports unicodes but its too small. It makes the WPS looks ugly. I'm fine with the menus, just the WPS.

  • Which version of Android you are running?
  • Is your Device rooted?
  • Any other information that you think may be helpful.

  • Feel free to add any links to Builds or Themes as well.

Previous info here....

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, or YP-G70

Android 2.3.5

Player is not rooted.

Rockbox build is from http://rasher.dk/rockbox/android/ and the build number is 94177e6-120128 , 800x480 resolution. At the moment I just am using the cabbie v2 theme....I have plenty of other things to explore with the player so themes and such can wait.

Update from before...

Same device and Android version

Rooted with Superoneclick.

Rockbox build is now build 9c21258-120220, from the same link as before.

I assume you already looked through the full font pack and found no suitable font?

You can convert basically any TTF/OTF/BDF font to Rockbox format yourself, here's how:

http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/CreateFonts (new guide, supports anti-aliasing)

http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/RockboxFontConvertor (old stuff)

I guess you could try to get hold of a full DroidSans version (since it's free and goes well with the Android UI as a whole) with Unicode support and give that a try.

Thanks, found myself a good font that's almost close as DroidSans and works fine. Didn't know that there's a DroidSans with unicode support, thanks for the info.

EDIT: I can't find the full version. Or maybe I haven't searched enough.

Sorry, I might have been wrong - I was going by my Cowon D3, which has Asian language support. But it seems the Droid font family is only free for Arabic, Ethiopian, and a few other type sets, but no Asian ones.

Well, this Sazanami font is close enough and it looks good too. Also, any chance of making the backdrop has some kind of textures? Like carbon fiber texture? It's too plain. Just my opinion.

Heh, sorry, but you'd have to make that yourself - I find fake material textures kinda cheesy. On my AMOLED screen it looks great as it is - pitch black, same as the surroundings of the player. But I guess on LCD/TFT screens it might not look as good as on AMOLED, since it's backlit.

Ah, OK. It's not like I'm going to watch the screen all the time since I usually turn it off.

You can just use the builds by Rasher. Also, you don't need to be rooted to use Rockbox.

By the way, anyone encountered the problem where when you're playing audio files in formats other than MP3 and then it crashed when trying to play an audio with the MP3 format? It's very annoying, I had to use an older build since it doesn't have this problem. Most of my songs are in OGG format, and when it changes to song which is in MP3, it crashed.

Rasher builds never worked on it. Spent a while getting Donut/Gingerbread/Linux tri boot now. Using gingerbread, it works like a charm and the device is rock steady.

Have spordiac crashes when choosing an audio file while playing another. I'm using rasher's daily build on a Motorola Defy+.

All you have to do is sideload it, just choose the build with the appropriate resolution for your device. Works fine on my Galaxy Player 5.0 which is running 2.3.6, at the 800x480 resolution. Only thing is, can't use the database function, because everything ends up in there, not just your music folder. But folder browsing works perfectly.

Yeah, it's actually pretty annoying that every single audio file in the phone is listed.
