But then again, the AD700 is not the AD900. This is comparable to me stating that the DT880 won't come close to the AD900, as the DT660 couldn't hold a candle against it. Apples and oranges.

post #32 of 452/10/11 at 1:58pmThe Fischer Audio FA-003s are getting a LOT of hype right now. Maybe you should check them out. they are called reference class competing with HD650s and D2000s and such by its fans.

Quote:The Ad900 are not the Ad700 though. The bass is much better on the Ad900 and with my FiiO E7 (+1 bass boost) I dare say the bass is too much at sometimes. It's fast, punchy, but it just doesn't extend very low for certain genres like dubstep. I don't think any headphone in the price range can touch the mids of the Ad900 though. I also think at the price of $200 right now the Ad900 are unbeatable.
ahhh man is fa-003 below ad900 not regardin the price
post #36 of 452/10/11 at 8:02pmso ur saying u would prefer the ad900 over the fa-003s if u disregard the price? (ad900s are $200 on amazon right now)
yea if its a higher level in sq cuz i wanted the detachable cables for fa-003 but im getting lots of good stuff abt ad900 here lol im just confused... you think i should take the risk for srh940? cuz they have 79$ for four gives on zzounds wat you guys think?

there is no clear answer to what is the best headphone at a certain price point. basically after about $150 the selection of headphones become mostly about personally preferences in music, synergy with the rest of your equipment and what flaws do you find acceptable(eg bad color, weak mids, overly analytical, lack of sound stage or etc). The game of course changes as you go way up in $$$.

You probably won't find Ad900s sadly. Best you can do is read reviews and make a decision, or try whatever you can in store and if you're happy with something find it online for cheaper. I must say though, I can't imagine you disliking the Ad900.

The Ultrasone HFI-580 are hard to beat when it comes to closed headphones.
