I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...

Fact OR opinion, I've mostly gone back to my iPods as well. But, for the sheer driving power it possesses, I've chosen to use my Cowon D2 over all my other players at home (unless the system is thumpin', then the D2 gets shelved). It just powers all my cans w/authority - but it still lacks the sweet "boomy" low end the Sony's all have. Even the iPod's all lack that low end.
For overall enjoyment and sweet smooth mids & lows the Sony lineup can't really be beat,...especially the X Series.
PS: I don't use BBE on ANY Cowon I've owned/own - I personally do NOT like it.
Not mine.....you should hear what the Touch can do with the Pioneers(with one of the EQ apps)

Yes, we will!!!
Copy/Pasted from another thread:
After my initial amazement has passed, I've realized that the Cowon D2 has a "slight" edge on the EQu app in 1 particular area,...and that's VOLUME!!! The EQ settings are both great, and I personally prefer the low end of the EQu'd iPhone, but it's still slightly low w/my HP's. Even when the "Headroom" is switched to "Loud", the D2 is still the king of driving larger, more power hungry headphones.
Either way you look at it, SQ wise, Rockbox, Cowon, and EQu are all pretty even when it comes to SQ nowadays. The only difference between them is the Cowon driving power. The iPod touch & iPhone all have the little (major actually) extras.

Lucky for me, I guess, that I don't have any of those really power-hungry headphones....all of mine are pretty easily driven. Either that, or you listen a lot louder than I do.

I'm guessing that the dbi pro-700's are just less sensitive, even being only 40ohms. Even the Philips "Stretch" HP's are a little low in volume w/my iPhone 4,... Now, the JVC HA-M750's,...Those are loud as a MoFo!!!
The iPhone & touch don't actually put out all that much volume, even w/the EQu app, but the SQ is damn fantastic!!!
