1x 4" sub or 2x 3" sub?

Well,

I stupidly ordered an 8ohm speaker for my 4ohm amp. I sent the seller and email and hopefully they'll be able to cancel the order...

That aside.

For loudness and quality of sound, would it be better to have 1x 4" 4Ohm subwoofer or 2x "3 8ohm subwoofers?

So 1 sub that's 4 inches and with a 4ohm impedance...or 2 subs that are 3 inches each with 8ohm impendances?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

The 8ohm speaker should be fine with the 4ohm amp just the amp will power a 4ohm better, i wouldn't worry about impendance and just get the bigger woofer, impendance  doesn't affect sound quality or even loudness really, to calculator the loudness you need the speakers spl at (1w/1m) normally provided in the speakers spec and the power of the amp in watts use this calculator here http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html .

Man it seems like I always see responses at innportune times. I just ordered a second 8ohm sub which I will put in parallel to achieve an effective 4ohms....If it doesn't seem like too big of an improvement, I'll just save that woofer for another project.
