I was wondering..by adding a omh adapter to my er4ps will that actually make a huge difference?? Like to the detaiil?? I been using my oortofon eq5s all day today and I swear that they sound more clear and detailed then my er4p..maybe its just me. MMaybe I had a long day lol but the er4ps sounded darker wwhen I put tthem in after listening to the eq5 all day..???.andI love that kinda sound.. So will the adapter make a big enouth difference???.

The eq5 has ~5dB boost at 8kHz, which is why it sounds clearer. It is also because the ER4P has slightly less treble than the ER4S. If you get the adapter then there will be more clarity, but it will still not sound as emphasized as in the eq5. However it will sound more realistic imo.

The ER4-S can with some audio configurations benefit from an amp.. wink_face.gif

Yes I kinda figured so..I have the fiio e11. Is that enough power do you think..or should I get something better..?? Something better is always better lol.but yes I have to most definitely get that adapter...now there is one adapter from etymotic website or I can get one on eBay for quit a bit less..does it really matter..or are they basically all the same.?.

Assuming they use the same resistor value and it has decent tolerance and build quality it should be practically identical.  The build quality would be my biggest concern, but I suppose you could always buy another if it fails. ha.  Etymotic probably guarantees theirs.  Not sure...

I got this ER4 P to S adapter and I think that it is very well built and sounds great. It did take over a month to get to me though, so you should request faster shipping if you can't wait that long.

I've been using my 75 ohm adapter with my other phones.  On every one, the sound is smoother, cleaner, less congested -- even the $15 Philips SHE 3590!

ER4S + Nuforce UDAC-1

Properly shot with an actual camera, instead of a phone. :)

Went to the audiologist today for a mold remake. The current molds lack a tight fit and tend to fall out. This might have been partly because I tilted my head forward while the impression settled, but the lab cut them too short also.
This time I held my head straight and I made sure the lab got this message:

Quote:
Please follow ER4 mold requirements specified by the manufacturer:

Don't cut molds short, audio reproduction quality is highly dependent on correct insertion depth. Molds should pass the second bend. In other words molds should fill half the ear canal volume, approx 13mm from the eardrum. (see footnote 1 & 2)

Insertion depth should be equal for the left and right ear.

If possible make outer tube diameter 2mm. (This allows the filter to be moved out of the ER4 housing for accurate audio reproduction)

Any questions can be directed to ER4 inventor Don Wilson of Etymotic d_wilson@etymotic.com

Finally, feel free to style the tips of the deep molds to improve comfort and insertion/removal as illustrated in figure 1-B:http://archive.hearingreview.com/issues/articles/2010-05_02.asp

Footnote1: http://hearinghealthmatters.org/hearthemusic/2012/deep-earmold-impressions/
Footnote2: http://rinchoi.blogspot.com/2010/05/how-deep-do-you-insert-you-er4.html

Fingers crossed!

I lost my ER4p a few months ago and have missed them dearly ever since. . . finally broke down and picked up ER4PT (woohoo autographed bonus graph) and I think this time around I am going to try out the custom fit option as well.

Just to clarify: The custom tips are not permanently attached to the ER4, right? I want to be able to swap them on/off to go back to the trusty triple flange if need be.

I was starting to think that my er4s were starting to sound dull and kinda warm..well I read on here that putting some baby oil on the triple flange tips will soften them up a bit so they won't hurt as much..well that worked but I think it softens them too much and more and more over a short time..this has a huge effect on the sq..I changed the tips.. Put fresh ones on and Walla..I got my etys back..lol I love these things smily_headphones1.gif
