I'm looking for a decent soundcard w/ 5.1 emulation

Hello there!

I'm new here and I was wondering what soundcard I should get for stereo headphones for a regular desktop PC. However, I would like it to feature some sort of 5.1 emulation/virtualisation (e.g. watching DVD with 5.1 surround or playing games).

I know the virtual surround would not be like the real 5.1 but from my past experience real 5.1 speakers are poopies in general so I would prefer to use a good pair of stereo cans instead.

So what soundcard do you suggest? I'm looking for good value for the money, possibly something around $100? Thx

The X-fi Xtremegamer would be a great choice, with its inbuilt CMSS-3d technology and it would come in well under budget if one Ebay ($40).

Also, the XONar DG has an alternate 5.1 emulation technique (DOlby HEadphone) which diffeers to CMSS (personal preference) and it has a bonus of possessing inbuilt headphones amp. THeir typically 40-50$
