REVIEW: HFI-580 vs. PRO 900 vs. DT770 PRO 80 comparison - Page 3

For anything with mechanical components (speakers) break-in is clear and measurable.

Here is an example for some Audax driver. Vas changed the most, which one would expect.

Anyone with speaker building experience will tell you that you should not measure Thiele-Small parameters until the driver is thoroughly broken in.

Electronics are more debatable (though capacitors can change in value with voltage applied over time) and cables more debatable still.

For drivers though it is not debatable. The differences are easily measurable.

DT770 PRO for 170 dollar OR 900's for 305 dollar... What should I do?

wow, nice review! I had hfi 580, m50 and tried the 770 80ohm, my feeling matches ur review except the brightness on 770 is too much for me

There is a good chance that the DT770 weren't burned in enough. Now I am thinking they may have gotten better in the upper range as play time increases.

Depends on what you listen to but as far as EDM goes, PRO's do an excellent job. There is a very long PRO900 thread in the forum so check that out. Honestly, if you can swing some $ I would get PRO900.

The ones I have are my second pair as I sold them after getting D7000 then missed them so much I bought them again biggrin.gif
