Good point, I could try that, too. I will try both and see what I prefer. The Conrad-Johnson Premier 17 is such a magical-sounding preamp, so I may prefer that regardless, in the same way that I've always preferred digital systems when there is a preamp between the DAC and the power amps.

FWIW, I had very good luck with GE 5751 tubes in my 834P, amplifying Lyra carts along with an occasional OC9.

You know, I have to go back and look at what tubes I rolled in to my 834P, it's been so long. IIRC, I think I have RCA 12AU7 "clear-tops" in there and an 12AX7, though I don't exactly remember. I used to use GE 5751s in in the input stage of my Conrad-Johnson Premier 11A power amp, and I liked them a lot. I actually had NOS versions of this tube.

My main phono stage for the big loudspeaker-based system is the solid-state EAR 324, which is quite an amazing phono stage. Use that with my Michell Gyro SE MkII, SME V, and Koetsu Urushi Vermilion.

Since Bottlehead Crack is pretty much the most recommended amp here, what should I expect going from O2 amp to the Crack? The only thing that's holding me back is the fact that I need to wait for 10~15mins for the amp to warm up. Is there a solid state amp that might be comparable to the Crack?
