Exactly, moved to different apartment with noisy street. So cant really enjoy them now neither at home or work.
What is the current "closed HD600" model nowadays?

The Beyer DT250 250 Ohm is often recommended as a closed alternative to the HD 600 (I've not head one myself though ... )

I can't seem to be able to pull the trigger on any of expensive balanced cables, all of which are over $400 for a workable length. I found a balanced cable at Headroom HEADROOM 4 PIN BALANCED STOCK HD650 CABLE for $99 anyone have good results with cable?

I'm shocked that the cable Sennheiser sells is $240. I expected it to be like a $100, too. What a rip off: http://en-us.sennheiser.com/ch-650-s

Yes, I bought the HEADROOM 4 PIN BALANCED STOCK HD650 CABLE a couple of years ago & found it to be pretty good.  I no longer have my balanced HP amp. but still use the stock cable as a single head plug w/my HD650.  It's as good as the Cardas cable I used (need to get it fixed) & the toxic cable I presently have (use that one w/HD600). At least I can't see any difference in sound quality compared to Cardas or Toxic cable & the Headroom cable can be used as a balanced or single function. It's a good cable & versatile. Hope that helps you.

It's the $18 Senn stock HD 650 cable reterminated with a $5 Nuetrik plug.  Know how to solder and you're in there for cheap.

Ted's cables are excellent, and he's a great guy all around. Almost every single one of my 3rd party cables have come from him

Silver Cable for my JH11s

SPC Hybrid for my JH5s

LoD SPC Hybrid

OCC Copper for my HD600s

Gorgeous cables, cheaper than pretty much anywhere else with excellent results

Highly highly recommended

Some say that changing cables is a waste of money... So, is it just a placebo effect or am i missing something? I used a crappy extension 3meters (jack 3,5mm) with my HD600 with stock cable and i didn't notice any difference AT ALL (in comparison with the headphones connected directly to the amp).

Without getting into a cable discussion,  Changing cables IMO is more for looks, length, or plug termination.  YMMV

If you can't hear the difference yourself and you have no practical reason to change cables then don't. To each his/her own!

For just $200 more you could get a pair Alpha Dogs, they come up used occasionally.

I should probably know, but which company does Ted run? Does he have a web site?
Thanks

Guys,

I have finally shortlisted an amp for my beloved HD600.

Should it be : Matrix M stage HPA2  or Bottlehead Crack.

I love transparent, airy with large soundstage. Which of these does it better?

This is the Last stop for me :D
