Does the spring basically straighten out which is what causes the intermittent connection with the cable pin? By re-bend, I take it you mean to try to put it to back to its original spring shape?

Two very thin voice coil wires extend out from the driver.

Yes, you need to bend the spring coils back to its OEM shape

Any of you guys interested in picking up the HD700.  Just hit the FS section.  HD700 @ USD 450.00.

I'd be all over this if I hadn't bought it a month ago.

No way! There's a Reason this is the 600 appreciation page. And the 700 was a confusing addition to the lineup.

Agreed. I feel like if it were to have a bass-heavy dark signature it might make sense. Sort of like the "brother" to the HD800.

But I read otherwise..

Not a fan of the 700, 800, DT880... or any really, that boosts treble over the upper midrange.  It gives me tinnitus at even very moderate volumes, like the sound you get when you clinch your teeth really hard.

Well I thought I'd advise anyway.  I have the DT8880, HD600 and now the HD700 - and I really like it.  To each their own.  At that price it won't last long ......

Just out of curiousity, how many experience a "tinnitus" or slight high-frequency ringing in their ears when they clench their teeth?  I've been noticing this and have been wondering if this is a common or universal experience, or if I'm beginning to notice the onset of tinnitus?

Don't know about when clenching teeth. I've got low level tinnitus. That's probably from live concerts and using woodworking machinery without ear protection though. I do sometimes think that using IEM's aggravates it.

You might be suffering from a temporomandibular joint issue. Jaw movement problems are known to cause tinnitus. Mention this to a dentist when you see one.

I tried it out just now. Thought that it was the ringing you mentioned at first, but after a while I realised that I was simply imagining the noise.

I have constant tinnitus, clenching my teeth doesn't affect it one way or the other.
