Thinking of getting a 600 to accompany my 650s , the classic combo could be imperative !

The wait is killing me

Meanwhile,

Someone please shed some light on amp for HD600 in 200$ max. I am getting confused about em.

Some I think are :

1) FiiO E12

2) JDS O2

3) LD MK1+

4) Bravo Ocean

Or any other?

Please guide me.

Congratulations , since you live in India like I do ...from where did you buy it ?

Thanks !

Because the HD 600 is getting such a strong amount of head time lately, I feel like, as a collector, I will probably end up with an HD 650 as well sometime this year.

That is true ....I am just scared Sennheiser will kill the 6XX soon , so having both could save us from some regret in the future

If they haven't yet, I doubt they will!

I would love to get em, But Schiit products will get 30% taxed so they wont be worth 300$

99$ magni +99$ modi + 30$ shipping + 70$ Tax =300$

and I will be using my phone as a source, no dac for me only amp.

Even If I consider 130$ magni alone, will get taxed

How is Asgard 2?

Prefer Objective combo. Never tried Magni Modi, but some people claim modi is quite bright.

Everything on your list is fine. Judging by how many times you've tried asking this question, I would suggest you buying second hand, and do the buy&sell routine that most headfiers will go through.

I have the HD580s with HD600 grilles and 650 cable. So, really an HD600. I am using the Schiit Magni and it sounds fine. Just last week I auditioned the Audeze LCD2 and 3s. I left still preferring my Sennheisers. While there may be small improvements here or there, the HD580s just sounded better overall IMO. I had a brief listen to the HD800s a few weeks ago and thought they were better in most ways, but only a bit. So, guess I will stay put with the old pair. Amazing quality for the money.

The Asgard 2 is outstanding. It's over your budget and subject to the shipping and taxes that you complain about. Considering your conditions and shopping list, I'd get the FiiO E12 and call it a day. It works very well with the HD600 and you might find its bass boost switch very useful. You will really like it. It packs an amazing punch for a portable with plenty of power to spare.

Thanks,

I am ready for the E12,

my only concern being

It has narrow sound-stage?

and its 11 hour battery life [not a big issue]

I am just bugged by O2 because many headfiers seem to praise it.

I also read 200$ amp shootout article at inearmatters,

Clieos gave O2 1st rank and stated O2 as "reference amp"

"E12 Probably best pair with full size headphone that is either wide in sound-stage or more laid back in nature"

"but lacks the best transparency and sound-stage"

"The narrower width and depth cause the overall presentation to push forwarded, giving an impression of warmth and energitic sound with a rather musical vocal"

"O2 is the reference amp of the whole shootout and offers the best SQ subjectively and objectively. It has the best blend of everything, as far as sound being the only concern"

and that is the only article available for E12 VS O2

If anybody having both of these please put a word on it.

With what you've said, go with the o2. And when using your phone as a source, you should get some kind of LOD. Don't just use the hp out.

I would go O2 or used or find something made locally.

Plenty of smart EE in India...someone must be making amps or assembling kits.

That bit about the E12 having a narrow soundstage is a load of BS. The crosstalk is better than 70dB so there isn't any crosstalk to narrow the soundstage, just gossip.

That relieved me a bit.

I wait for another 20 hours for my HD600's to arrive [Damn wait is killing me ]

before placing an order for the amp.
