Nope, run them any way you want. They can withstand a lot more power than your ears can tolerate.

I can't count how many times I've listened to Pink Floyd in these cans over the last decade... Match made in heaven.

You are right. Could have been made for each other.

Better yet, Get a T1 AND HD600 like I did.

I would never trade them for an HD800.

Incidentally both the T1 and hd600 together cost me less than a new pair of HD800s.

Thank you! I'll try this later on.

Much appreciated.

EDIT: Tried it. I would recommend everyone do this if they have a large head (or in my case, dreadlocks)

Listening to my HD600 through my portable setup of a Colorfly C3 and C&C BH sounds very good. I wouldn't think that the 300ohm headphones would sound as good as they do but I sure am glad it does. With the bass-boost and SF (enlarges the soundstage a bit) on gives the HD600 a more full and spacious sound and I'm liking this setup a little more than my desktop rig though when my Vali gets here I think that will change.

Does anyone else have a portable rig they use with the HD600 and if so how does it sound to you?

I've owned and got rid of the HD800, HD700, T1, LCD2 rev.2, RS1i r1, DT990-600 ohm, AKG K702 Annies but the HD600 was the first pair of quality HPs I bought about 10 years ago & it's still my favourite pair of HPs (I'm now on my 2nd pair).  IMHO if you have a good source, good amp/headphone amp & well recorded music the HD600s, to my ears anyways, are just about the most enjoyable HPs I've ever heard/owned.  And they are quite detailed to my ears.  Presently I'm listening to the remastered "Tapestry" album buy Carol King & I can hear "everything" even when they're are many instruments playing all at once.  The bass is quite prominent to my ears; I can make out quite clearly the violin, piano, acoustic guitar, the wood block being hit with a drum stick (I think they use a drum stick ?), etc. all very clear and enjoyable = non fatiguing.  What a great HP; I've been saying it for years.  I, like many others on Head-fi & elsewhere took the high road on a quest to find the best sounding HPs money could buy (that I could afford).  After many disappointments and fiscal wallops, it dawned on me over time that I already owned what I was looking for. I also own & enjoy the HD650 but as I've written elsewhere on head-fi, not only do I never get tired of the HD600s but they remain my favourite GO TO HP ! I have lost the urge of spending money on more expensive HPs that in the end never truly justify their cost.  I will conclude this little rant by stating that I can describe the HD600s in one word : AMAZING ! :L3000:

Right now I'm trying to decide between the LCD-2 rev2, HE-500 or HD700 and I wanted to know what you think when you compare the LCD-2 and the HD700?

I really like my planar HE-400 but I also love my HD600 and I think the HD700 (which you can find used in good shape for under $600) would be something I'd like. The HE-500 and LCD-2 would be great headphones to have also, its hard to decide on my next headphone purchase.

Ive said this a couple times recently, so this will be the last time I bring it up (b/c I don't want to become "that guy").  Was very underwhelmed by the HE500, I liked the HD600 more.  But I liked the LCD2.2 more than both.

When I wander into the LCD2 vs HE500 suggestion threads, it seams to break pretty even both ways.  Some people really love one or the other.  I fall into the Audeze camp.

I would have to say it pretty much depends on what you like. They are both outstanding headphones. I like the HD700 more as it is a bit more 'lively' but I am trying to figure out some way I can afford a pair of LCD2's as well. The bass is to die for, and I think I'd grow to like the rest of the spectrum given some brain burn-in time. The only thing I didn't like about the Audeze was the weight, the top of my head started hurting after a while. I am sure I could do something to solve that though.

I used to be all about the warmer, smoother sound signature but after having the HE-400 I do like the sparkle and clarity of the treble and upper mids. At some point I'd like to have both the HD700 and LCD-2 or HE-500 but at this point one is all I can afford. The more I read reviews of the LCD-2, HE-500 and HD700 I'm tending to lean more toward the LDC-2 or HE-500 because I think they're sound signature will be pleasing to me at this time but I still would like to get the HD700 (or something like it) in the future.

Own the HD 600 and HD 700. Owned the HE-400 for a year before I got rid of them about a month ago. I think the HD 600 and HD 700 compliment each other very well. As it is currently, these are my two most used cans. The HD 600 for my warm and smooth needs. The HD 700 for my more exciting music. I gave the HE-400 enough time to grow on me, but it never did as it was just far too flawed in far too many ways, IMO.

I'm using a Headstage Arrow. I only got my 600's last night but they sound lovely. I'm pretty sure they would benefit from a full size amp though. I'd be interested to know how you get on with the Vali.
