Yeah, I was talking about used. They still cost a lot (and hard to find). I'd rather buy a whole new amp (like Asgard) for the same $$ or a bit more.

Well as far as the Asgard 2 goes, "That's some baaad Schiit." It sux having something nice and having to scratch it for such a reason.

To be honest it served me well for over 10 years now and I never had an urge to upgrade or buy a better power supply or anything.

But you never know when the itch comes...

By the way I took it from Europe when I moved to US.. and I couldn't use it for a long time, because of Euro wallwart with a strange DIN connector. :) And then Musical Fidelity USA was kind enough to send me a free 110V unit... very nice of them.

Unfortunately it's not a standard wallwart with one standard voltage. Not too often that you get something like that for free as a good gesture.

Are you getting noise or hum because of the wallwart?

No, not at all. So I didn't bother with PSU upgrade all these years.

So then what would the PSU possibly bring to the table?

I don't know, it was just a suggestion by another member above. I would think with the decent enough power section of the amplifier itself, it shouldn't really matter SO much.

Since the HD600 isn't power hungry, try it and see how it sounds. You can save your money for some other gadget.

I like to listen to my HD600 using my portable setup with the C&C BH and it works great with plenty of power. I also like the bass boost on the amp with its clean deep sound and the SF switch that gives the soundstage a little bit more air to it. I am looking forward to the Vali when I get it, I just hope the microphonics aren't as bad as the first few batches were.

It definitely has enough juice for HD600s... I have the volume pot at less than 1/8. When I set it higher, I can use them as pair of speakers. :)

Looks like Jason Stoddard is going to have to wait a bit longer to get his new Ferrari. ;)

My HD600 come in today. Very exciting.

Also, in regards to the high bit-rate DACs: For what it's worth, my new DAC has DSD support, I don't hear the difference at all.

I've got a Vali, bought it for a giggle because the price was so reasonable I wasn't going to lose my shirt over it. The ringing/microphonics are not so bad at all. The early models had a problem because the tubes have springy wires which are soldered directly to the PCB and the tube is held in place with a sticky soft tape that serves to absorb vibrations. The tension in the springy wires would reduce the effectiveness or the tension would cause the tubes to eventually get loose. They learned to reduce the tension by prebending the leads from the tube. Now the ringing is not that loud and subsides quickly. It works rather well with the HD600's.

Just talked with a chap on eBay, selling his X-CAN V3 with X-PSU... Said he honestly didn't hear much improvement compared to wallwart on his HD600..
