I feel the same way. They not only sound better to me than the other cans at their price range or lower. I like them more than some higher priced cans too :)

Proud to report here as a new HD600 user!! Just gotten them yesterday

Auditioned them with the DT880 (250ohm), LCD-2, HD650 but still picked the 600s

880 was too bright and had thin mids, LCD-2 was great but uncomfortable & heavy, not to mentioned its pricetag, HD650 was abit slow/draggy for rock/metal but the bass was engaging

Wad amps are you guys using to drive the 600s?? Im not sure if im driving them to their full SQ potential, although i got them to a high volume easily with the 3 SS amps i have atm, namely the Stepdance, uDAC-2 and Accuphase E-207

Read around the forums, from the bits of comments i gathered, supposedly a tube amp would be a better match for 600 than a SS amp, if so which tube amp would you guys recommend?

Nice, where u bought ur little dot?

I'm in the club now.  Took delivery today, from taking advantage of Amazon's hour long deal posted Sunday I think it was.  I only bought them because the model number ends in 00, to go along with my HD 800s.  biggrin.gif

That's not true, but I'm learning how this headphone thing can become addictive.  Great...

Bought it from a user online for SGD 400. Now i'm like a lost pigeon in the middle of an ocean. Anyone knows if the senn HD 600 are balanced? And is there anyone who uses the little dot mk VII, i need some pro audiophile guidance.

I've heard the lcd 2 and i would say this and beyer T1 are only decent headphones in the 1k plus price range. Do you feel that LCD2 tend to sound towards the warmer side of sound spectrum just like the hd650/hd600?

I am not sure if this is the case, hentai. But I will be able to make comment after I receive a pair of r.1 LCD-2's near the end of the week. We will see how they compare to the early-model HD600's that I have. There has been some consensus that the HD600 shares a lot in common with the HiFiMAN HE-500, which I have had the distinct pleasure of hearing. Of course, the orthoplanar set of cans takes a lot of what the HD600 does well to another level. In the same way, there have been a few that think that the HD650 is akin to the LCD-2 (which is generally 'darker' and less sprightly than the HE-500).

I am starting the think that the differences between the older and newer HD600's-- which are discernable, yet subtle-- are much like the differences that are coming to light re: r.1 and r.2 Audeze LCD-2's. I liked the older black silk driver HD600's which generally have a warmer, less-etched character. I hope this means that the r.1 LCD-2's are my cup of tea!

Hey, I doubt this is an issue with the 600s, but does anyone else experience a faint muffled popping when listening to high notes, most notably with violin(chaconne in D minor for instance) or complicated female vocals (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares for instance)? I doubt it's the 600's fault, because I've experienced it on my other cans. Does it have anything to do with my fiio combo?

No problem with mine. Maybe you just need to add more burn in time or it could be in the recording itself

An improvement for donunus, perhaps. He is obviously speaking from his experience and not the rest of us here. There are many, including myself, that prefer the older-version HD600 with the black silk driver covers. To me the newer version is 'etched', too forward in its highs and generally not as pleasing to the ear as what I think is the better-balanced, effortlessly enjoyable older set of cans. Of course, you will likely have to hear both side by side to decide for yourself. wink_face.gif

Not me, I have an original pair of HD600 with the black screen and the brass ring inside the driver vrs the brand new pair I bought this year with the silver screen. I even bought new pads for the older pair to make it a fairer comparison, both driven with same audio chain.

The old one sounds a lot wider but more lose. The new one sounds bit brighter, with more detail popping through and a much more focused sound, which gives a smaller but more curved 3D soundstage.  I much prefer the tighter more focused front to back sound of the new cans, which feels more speaker like than the old ones.

Just picked these up and they're AMAZING! Coming from Westone 3's these have a much more open sound stage. I'm seriously hearing things I've never heard thru my W3's and all unamped at least for the moment.

Got my new HRT II + hooked up to the Bottlhead driving my HD600.  Im sure it will take a bit of time for it to settle but so far it sounds on par to my NAD 585.  Spotify running at 320 kbps sounds pretty good as a source.

Which bottlehead? Crack? I've heard those also sound best with 5998 tubes by the way
