Depends if you want a solid state or tube amp..

Solid state rig? If I was in your position/budget, I'd get the Schiit "Uber-Bifrost" DAC ($350 w/o USB.. or $450 w/USB) & "Asgard 2" amp ($250). I like Violectric's offerings as well (I have the V800 & V200).. they have a "sister company" called Lake People and have some terrific amps that are like slightly scaled back/down versions (i.e. G109-P amp) of their flagship Violectric products (i.e. V200 amp). Build quality and design is going to remain top notch. I can't recommend their stuff enough... same with Schiit's stuff.

Violectric & Lake People are the same company. Basically, Lake People is the company and Violectric is a brand name they use for their audiophile products. They mostly sell pro audio/video studio products under the Lake People name until recently with the G103/G105/G107/G109 which you're right, are basically cheaper versions of the Violectric amps that use SMD components to lower production costs.

I love my G109-S but unfortunately have little to compare it to right now. One thing you always get with LP/Violectrics is plenty of power. Even the ~ $250 G103 has more power than most other $500 amps. The HD600s aren't terribly difficult to drive but the bass seemed to improve with the G109. My DT880s probably improved more-so. The Beyers supposedly are best when given plenty of voltage and the G103/G109/Violectrics definitely have that.

Checkout this thread if you want some more info on the G103 & G109 or do a search for Violectric, there are several threads on those I think

dude, bottlehead crack, without question.  great amp for all high impedance cans.  and not expensive.  considered one of the best matches for a reason.

Tube amp? Lots of options.. and your Beyer's have enough impedance to where you can use an OTL amp with it, too. I'd suggest the Bottlehead Crack (w/ Speedball).. it's DIY.. but peruse the FS forum and you'll see fully built ones pop up from time to time. Lots of HD600/HD650/HD800 owners have the Crack and their experience with it has been overwhelmingly positive (from what I've read). I have a Bottlehead Crack (w/ Speedball upgrade, etc.) & use the ODAC with it to feed the HD800.. I couldn't be happier with the combo. I'd only upgrade from it when I'm ready to drop $1500+ on an amp (i.e. Eddie Current Super 7). The Garage1217.com amps.. while not quite as aesthetically pleasing (unless you dig the "open chassis" look) as some other amps.. have a great rep for build and SQ. Th G1217 amps can run both 6v & 12v tubes, so you'll have tons of rolling options at your disposal.. you'll also be able to drive a wider variety of phones due to selectable output impedance. I haven't personally owned/heard their amps, but read quite a bit about them and they seem to have a very good rep. Very affordable, as well. You can DIY it or buy a prebuilt amp (direct from G1217) for very little over the DIY parts price.

Also I'm a n00b when it comes to these things but the site offers two voltages(115 and 230 with 115 being default), does it matter which one I choose?  If I buy Asgard 2 and Uber Bifrost will those be the final amp/dac I'll ever need and I'd more opinions on those two.  Thanks.

I forgot to ask how would I connect the two again?  Do they come with things to connect with each other?

You will need a set of rca connectors to connect the Bifrost and the Asgard and you will need a USB cable to connect the Bifrost to your computer. They very well could be end game for you, they are both wonderful products. However, if you do manage to avoid the upgrade bug, please post and let me know how you did it....wink_face.gif

Thanks guys.  Does anyone else have opinions on this?

Whoops, I just realized schiit's site sell these pyst rca cables.  These would do the job of connecting the asgard 2 and uber bifrost right?  These cost $20 should I get it from there?  Here it is just in case

I just ordered the Uber Bifrost and Asgard 2 but forgot to add the RCA cables to the order.  The total shipping for the first order is $15.72.  Looks like I can't edit the order now and if I add the RCA cable now it would cost me $6.44 for shipping...If I would've added the RCA cables in the first place would I get charged the same $15.72 for shipping or what?  Thanks

You should just email schiit as soon as you can. Your package might get delayed but Jason who is one of the founder is a nice guy and I'm sure would be willing to help you out. But I would email him asap!

I already emailed Schiit about it before asking this but I thought I'd ask here too to see if you guys know anything about this.  Thanks

See what schiit says first. If they can't change anything just order RCA cables from somewhere else and it will probably be cheaper!

I ordered yesterday afternoon and I am shocked they are shipping my uber bifrost and asgard 2 now since it said the asgard 2 was on backorder and would be shipped in 5-7 days.  Anyways I'm an idiot when it comes to audio stuff, can you or anyone else on here go to amazon and help me look for the right/best rca cables?  There are a bunch of them and not sure which one to choose.

I don't know...that length doesn't conform to the Golden Ratio and therefore some of the electrons will resonate and cause distortion.

Yeah, but only half as many...
