I'll be at that meet as well and it will be a good place to get info and try out some equipment, it should be a good time.

Anyone out there have experience listening to the HD600, or other cans, through both the Nuforce HDP and Schiit gear (biforst / asgard / valhalla / lyr)?  I'm looking to upgrade from the HDP but budget is limited to ~ $600.

if u still want to keep the hdp, as in using it as a dac, i would add a Graham SLEE NOVO,

its has superb synergy with the hd600 giving it a spacious euphonic quality, v captivating.

Lorspeaker, thanks for the advice.  I'm tempted to give the AudioGd a try.  I come across rave reviews of their stuff but, their sketchy looking website and no u.s. based dealer worried me a bit.  I've got a schiit stack on order and I'm hoping it satisfies my upgrade sickness for the time being.

Interested in hearing how the schiit stack compares with the HDP, particularly the DAC section.  Did you order a bifrost with any of the new upgrades?

I recently returned my Schiit Asgard 2. It really didn't seem worth the money to me with my HD600s and it had too many issues.

Never listened to the Nuforce sorry.

The Bifrost I ordered was the basic version and without usb.  When I try it out I'll be using optical from my laptop.  Also, to dalb, did your unit have a transformer hum or did it have other issues?

Just checked the AudioGd... very impressive, looks like they have a killer quality / price ratio.

Anyone know what kind of material, such as polyester etc, the ear pads are made of?

@ennui30

Is your Bifrost with uber analog upgrade? Btw, what schiit amp you ordered? I heard HD600 through Asgard and it sounds unappealing. There is just something not right with the combo, lukewarm and lifeless sound.  Lyr is better with HD600 but I guess you dont really need it for HD600.

Dear all, I'm using my HD600 with Creative X-Fi Elite Pro sound card as DAC, and Graham Slee Ultra Linear Diamond Edition as my Amp. So far I'm very pleased with what I heard.

Now I would like to know where is the direction of my next upgrade?

1. Cardas cable

2. external DAC, ditch Elite Pro

3. interconnect?

Please would you kindly advise me!

Cheers,

In my opinion source is just about the biggest impact on sound.  I would go with an external DAC.  I'm actually saving to get a new DAC myself.  I have a Nuforce HDP right now and feel the next big improvement comes in at the 750-1000 price range.  That said, probably the best deal you can get currently is to find a PS Audio DLIII for cheap and add a usb to spdif converter assuming you need high resolution playback.  The PS audio can be found for about 500 and used to be 1k before it was replaced by the nuwave DAC. Add another 200 for a convertor and you have a high resolution DAC that competes at the 1000 - 1200 price range for about 700.  My dad recently did this with his speaker system and it has never sounded better, (he runs a lot of the late 80s gear and had no external DAC).  Using it with my Bottlehead Crack and HD600s, I have decided the 600s will be my end game headphones.  I really didn't feel that the Audezes were much better.

Sorry to go off tangent a little but that's the direction I would head if I were you.
