Exactly.

I can go along with that. For how well it does its thing the HD600 is a steal.

As I have mentioned, I have the HD580 with 600 grilles and 650 cable. They were not used much for a while but I recently bought a Schiit Magni and that sort of rekindled the desire for new headphones. Did not dislike the Sennheisers in any way, just figured newer may be better. So, I have listened to HD800, HD650, LCD-2, LCD-3 and Fostex TH-900. My conclusion? The HD580\600 is just amazing! Sure some of the new flagships do some things better, they all had minor issues, but none seemed worth the money to me. The HD800 appealed the most but not for the price. The HD580/600 is just a wonderful product that still sits near the top of the heap.

That's my fear of upgrading to LCD-2s.  I know they will do a lot of things better but the HD600s tonality is near perfect imo, especially when you listen to a ton of genres.

The LCD-2s were nice but had a bit of grain that the LCD-3s did not. Neither combined the neutral tone, sense of space and detail the Sennheisers have. However, my main choice of music is classical and the HD600s just nail that genre. Bass heads may not agree. I much prefer tight, crisp bass over full and boomy, like the TH900s.

Maybe you should be asking these questions direclty in the LCD-2 thread. They will be able to give you better insight on this.

you should just wait for the new hifiman cans to come out and watch the feedback.  also, the lcd x is much better on the high end then the lcd 2 or 3.  if I was going to get any, it would be that one.  I'll be testing it out in a more extended listening in a couple weeks. but when I heard it last, it was very impressive.

I agree that the lcd x would suit me better buy they're literally $1,000 more than the price I can get used lcd 2.2s for.

Agree. Not worth 1k more. But thatwouldnt make me buy the lesser. Wait for the new Hifiman offerings. Should change the scene. "Should"

I own both, and will be keeping both. They are my "end-game". They do things differently, and are useful in different situations with different music. I struggle to say that one is "better" than the other.

I also have a pair of HE-500's and am not willing to part with my HD600's.

Same here. The HE500 is a better all rounder. But since I've got my TH600 for my EDM and pop, the alrounder is not really needed so I'll get rid of the HE500 before my HD600

I have trouble letting go of headphones, I'm a headphone hoarder. :happy_face1::happy_face1::happy_face1::happy_face1::happy_face1::happy_face1::happy_face1:

I'm the same but have managed to let go of a couple in the last month. So I'm on the mend

I'm beyond any hope of redemption. They have to fall apart before I consider sending them off to Never Never Land. Luckily I don't buy junk. Actually I did get a pair of Klipsh Image S4a's, and they have a resonant peak around 6 kHz that can make your ears bleed whenever there's any hint of sibilance.
