What's wrong with my turntable?

So I just bought a new stylus and phono preamp for the Pioneer PL-7 turntable my dad gave me. It was working when we pulled it out of the box, and then my neighbors drove it up to my apartment for me and now it's doing this:

Any clue as to what's wrong with it? As you can see, it's spinning in both directions, but predominantly the WRONG direction.... Somehow quartz lock flashes on and off as well....

If you are lucky (and the turtletable has one) the stop button is busted.

More lilkely the speed control circuit is blown up. Do you have need for a paint-spray turntable that spins randomly? perhaps it would be useful for a DIY shot-peening or sand blasting operation.

Somehow the problem resolved itself. Works fine now, even the automatic tone arm works perfectly, and it used to have problems before....
