My récord player has had it :(

Hi I wonder if you can help me, my record player has fizzled out on me, and I need to get a new one. I have a limited budget along with limited knowledge.

What would you recommend me do, go and buy a new turntable ( I have been looking at the Project series ) or would my money go noticeably further by looking at the used/vintage market, and if so , which models would you consider?

Sorry for the poor spelling, I posted using my phone.Have I even posted in the right area!? A turntable would be classed as a dedicated source? I see most are talking about DACs in this section...

If you have a limited budget Pro-ject and Rega are very reputed.

Here is a link of a very good review of the Rega RP1

Cheers for that!  Yeah the reviews look pretty sharp, I think at the price new is a better bet, looks really nice and minimal as well :)

Oh, don't buy new. Get a good used one off Audiogon.

Don't worry about buying used. Audiophile decks are typically babied and only sold to fund an upgrade. You won't be buying someone else's junk.
