Bypassing kmixer when using Windows native USB streaming?

hi all

I'm facing this problem: I've installed ASIO4ALL and the Winamp ASIO output plugin. kernel streaming does not function on my system, I couldn't figure out why. I'm using the USB Nu-force uDAC-2 for D/A which doesn't come with any drivers but uses the native Windows USB streaming.

one of the main claims of ASIO4ALL is that it bypasses the Windows mixer. it does work but still I can use the audio control panel to alter the playback volume. which leads me thinking that ASIO4ALL has issues with USB streaming, being incapable of bypassing it.

am I right? if yes, what software configuration is capable of doing this?

If you are using W7, or maybe Vista, try WASAPI.  Similar to Asio, but native.

I'm stuck with XP. it's a very cheap laptop that I acquired exclusively for use as a digital source.

Hmm... if you can't adjust volume through Wave slider (found in Audio CP) then data bypasses kmixer. If you stream through S/PDIF then the main volume control should be 'grayed'.

it is not greyed and it alters the output level. I'll post a screenshot when I get home.
