Is there an iTouch app that will let me use it as a remote for my computer based iTunes?

Hi!


Is there an app for the iTouch that will allow me to use one as a remote to run iTunes from my computer? The Olive Music Server and the Cary Xciter Music Server are examples of servers that allow the user the option to use the iTouch as a separate remote via an app and network connection. I am wondering if I can do the same with a PC based server and iTunes. It would make my life so much easier and the ability to upgrade to a tower instead of another notebook. I'm looking for 2TB of internal storage instead of 500GB without having to spend a fortune.

So, does anyone know if such an app exists? Thanks for everyone's help!

Apple's Remote app will let you control iTunes, and it works with both Windows and Mac.  It's free.  http://www.apple.com/itunes/remote/

You could also look at a VNC or RDP client if you need extra remote control of the PC, not just iTunes.

Resurrecting this after a year...

 

A new version of the remote app was released yesterday, along with IOS 5.1.  I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to display iTunes lyrics in the remote app.

 

I think this feature was originally enabled with IOS 4.xx, but then went away with IOS 5.  I had heard rumors that it might be enabled again in a future update, but I haven't figured out how to display them, or if it's even possible.

 

I'm talking about lyrics that are stored in iTunes under the Lyrics Tab when Get Info on a track is selected.

 

Does anyone know if it's possible to display lyrics on an iPad using the Apple Remote app when controlling iTunes on another computer? ( I am only using the iPad as a remote--I'm not using iTunes on the iPad at all.  It's controlling the iTunes library on a headless Mac Mini.)

 

Or, is there another alternative for displaying stored lyrics as the tracks play?  Thanks for any info anyone might have.
