Change Pot of Chinese Dac Zero

Thread Starter

Hi there,

My pot is doing some Buzzz background noise, and would like to replace it (wit an Alps one).

But I can't remove it. I have tryed to pull the knob to reome the pot, but I'm wondering if it is not glued.

I'm afraid to brake something if I pull it too much.

Should I use soem tool or I'm going the wrong way ?

Regards

Is it soldered to the pcb? If it is then you will need to un-solder it and solder in a new one.

Yes of course it is solderred to the pbc, but you can't desolder it before removing the pot from the front panel, and that's my problem

pots are often secured with a nut that threads round the pot shaft to clamp the pot to the front panel, is that the case here?  if so, undo it :P  also the knob itself may be secured to the pot shaft with a grub screw on the side, can you see one?

I don't see a screw on the knob that's why I wonder if it is not glued....

Pull
Very

Hard

You could try stabilizing the pot with one hand while pulling with the other, I was trying to remove the volume knob for a friend, struggled for a while, and when my friend returned, he simply yanked it off, but yeah...

you must have loosened it for him tongue.gif
