heard the m-40s are no where near as good as the m-50, like its not even close, save up for the m50s.

Yea I'd save up for some new m50's or just get some nice used ones, preferably off of the trading forum on head fi. Possibly ebay.

+1 to the M50's. You can get them on ebay for around $110 sometimes.

If you're patient you can find the M50 under $100 on Amazon. You'd be best off getting them. You can also check the For Sale section here and pick up used ones cheap.

If you're going to try the M50, I suggest also trying the HFI-580.
