Where do the Ultrasone Edition 10 fit in to the ranking of high end headphones? - Page 3

I certainly did not think it would take this long, that's for sure.

especially since only 2010 were built, the repairs/mods shouldn't take so long

Probably retuning your driver as well as checking the pads to be sure it isn't so trebly.normal_smile%20.gif

Guys I hate to say it but this is insanity at the highest level. When you pay 2700.00 for a headphone it better be perfect. these cost almost nothing to manufacture. Really sad state but I would never buy any Ultrasone product from the way they do business. Really Who needs them.

How can you say that?? Have you seen my Ed. 9 that retailed for 1700?? Oh, wait, the headband is the exact same one as used on the 780. It cost maybe 5 dollars and the ear cups, oh yeah, they are plated plastic but don't forget the dead animal skin they used.

Sorry but I thought, wrongly so, that Ultrasone would jump on this, maybe a baby jump, but at least develop some character and maybe work up a sweat a little and please some of those that were willing to go out and put down hard earned money on these phones.

Now, to get back on topic...the photos of the Ed. 10 do look sweet! I own the Ed. 8LEs and I have never held a more beautiful headphone, but the Ed. 10s really kick that up a notch.

I must admit they are pretty. Too bad Ultrasone lost its way with them. But its the sound that matters most.

The Ed. 8s sound incredible and are my favourite closed headphones (sonically and all the rest). But I was holding out hope for the Ed. 10s.

I still hold some crazy hope that they will prove out. There have been posts by people that the new or correct ear pads allow the phones to work as they should, within an acceptable frequency presentation and that they are top tier. I guess I was hoping to read more comparisons eventually to the best, what ever that is and where they fit.

We shall see....my wallet is hoping that those reports were greatly exaggerated. tongue.gif

There is no doubt that when you have the Edition 10 in your hand, you WANT to love it. It's absolutely beautiful. And then you put it on your head, and before the music starts, again you want to love it - the most comfortable high end headphone ever made, by FAR.

And then the music starts...and you want to take them off, and send them back.

At least, this was the case in the "bad pad" version.

Any ideas when you expect to get your "fixed" Ed.10s Rob?

At the moment, none whatsoever. But since it has been a month, I PM'd Randy at Ultrasone today. Let's see if I get a reply before Monday, and if not, i will call.

Hopefully sooner than later. In my dealings with Randy, I always found him to be a stand up guy.
