Well, I may not neccisairly call myself an Audiophile, but I will say that I love my audio.

I have had the itch recently to pickup some new gear, or move my setup to the next level if you will.  My current setup is as follows;

PC>Foobar w/ ASIO>Xonar Essence STX (Opamp rolled for a wile, cant remember what I ended up settling on)>AKG K601.

I also have a pair of HD555's that used to get used for gaming, though I dont do much of that anymore due to time constraints.

I have had this setup for probobly a year and a half of so now and have been very happy for it, I was originally looking at the K701's though their bass responce is a bit lacking, so I opted for the 601s due to them having a bit better bass responce.   I have been really happy with them though my only gripe really being the lacking in the bass department... but the mids and highs are phenominal.

I listen to a pretty diverse range of music, everything from blues to hard dance... it really depends on the mood, and how my day has been going, So whichever route I do end up going needs to be well rounded to handle everything.

I spend most of my day infront of the computer so the source will not be changing in the forseeable future (unless i suddenly change careers.... ;))

Now my question is what would be worth the time and effort to change / upgrade to push this setup to the next level?  I have a friend that is heavily reccomending me the MMM (M Cubed), and based on some reading it seems to be an awsome little device, and it wins bonus points because I get to build it!

I am really torn what direction to move at the moment... MMM, B22, something else, DAC, another set of headphones?

Basically I'm looking for feedback on a higher end setup, Since I cant seem to decide on something solid.  Bonus points if its DIY and I build it.

***EDIT***

Also Would it be worth it building a Ballanced setup?  I cant really see the benefit of Ballanced in a home environment... its not like im going to have 200' of interconnect piled up under my desk.
