Pioneer VSX-501 hissing sound from headphone jack

My current headphone config is X-Fi -> VSX-501 (using cheapo 3.5mm to RCA) -> HD 595.

I'm getting this consistent hiss sound during quiet areas of a song. The hiss remains constant throughout the volume range.

Does this have anything to do with my cheapo 3.5mm to RCA cables or the 50Ω impedance on my headphones?

Anyone?

*edit* - OK, I tried using a attenuator and the hiss is completely gone but the attenuator reduced the volume so much when I crank the volume up I get distortion.

Is there a adapter that increases impedance I can use?

It's time for a new amplifier.  Your amps have reached the end of their life.
