Hey team,

Over time the Sennheiser CX-500's I brought a while ago have been through alot and started to sound strange, the bass was fine in the left ear but lacked treble and the right ear had the opposite problem.

Since the problem wasn't just in one ear I assumed the cable was damaged rather than the driver so I searched around the house and found an old pair of samsung earphones lying around that were in good condition and decided to do a cable swap.

I re-soldered all the connections on the sennheisers with the samsung cable and decided to try em out, its seems the operation was a success and the high frequencies sound perfect like they used to, but something is wrong with the low frequencies.

They either don't sound explosive as they used to, or when they do, as soon as a high frequency sound plays the bass dies off or distorts.

Any ideas? I suspect my soldering is too amatuer or maybe the cable doesn't allow enough power draw?
