Yeah, I disabled sound check after a week or 2.  I shuffle by album so it's usually not to bad having to change volume

The first time my shuffling went from a 1960's recording to one from the current loudness wars, while my player's hold was enabled and the player was tucked away in a pocket, was a jarring enough experience to make me reconsider that stance. wink.gif

 

But hey, if you only listen by album, then you don't have to worry about it.
