I need a smaller monitor for my room, in the pics you can see that my room is very small and for the moment i will not treat it.
In a short future i will add a subwoofer(when i treat my room) because changing the monitors to ones with big woofer(8" for example) will place too much space in my small desktop. I have Auralex MoPads in order to isolate the monitors from the desk.
In a short future too i will change the room to another bigger so i can add the subwoofer too(i will treat first)
I only will use the monitors to listening music, i don't buy hi fi speakers because a pair of b&w 685 + Rotel AMP is u$s 2100, too much money for me. I live in latin america.
So, what is the best option?
Adam A3X u$s 930
Genelec 8030B u$s 1300
KRK VXT4 u$s 800
Focal CMS40 u$s 1150
I like the VXT4 for the price, but i don't know.
Here the pics: thankss!!

I can't really advise you on the list you posted but I can say that the Dayton B652s I picked up from parts-express definitely are worth their price (very very cheap). Price wise they look like a joke compared to everything else, though they were on the CNet top 10 speakers under $1000.

Why are you recommending $50 speakers when he clearly wants a $1000 setup?

But why recommend something less than 10% of his budget? $500-$1000 range is more reasonable. It's like recommending a civic to someone who is shopping at a Ferrari dealership.

OK Thumper, I can see you pt. if you take that into consideration.....I sure don't want YOU or anyone else on this site to think I'm trying to be a smart ass with my comment back to you.period....What would you suggest the OP should maybe look at in his quest for a nice small monitor...Between you and me, we have to remember he's out of the U.S. That would change somethings as far as shipping goes........Another thing about my reaction, (not meant to be hurtful, or I'll show him) is that we have lost many SMART, HELPFUL members on this site, and IMO, believe it's because of some of the members just not truly caring about a truthful, helpful response, to a question be it from a (Nobie, as they say) to one of our Long Time members..........Thanks for getting back with me.........Peace........

Can't you audition them first?
I did and for me, the midrange clarity of the Adams won it. Some may prefer others. Think also about where you're going to place them. If close to the wall, you may opt for the front ported ones.

Between Adam A3X and Genelec 8030 the clear winner is Genelec. I have both. They dont really compare. Adam A3X is nice with smooth highs but they have a low frequence top and the mids gets a little unclear. Adam A5X is far better (I have that too) in that matter and not much more expensive.

I have a pair of ADAM A3X mounted on small stands I use as desktop multi-media speakers/general purpose monitors.
Haven't felt the least need to get anything more expensive. They are particularly outstanding with vocal, acoustic and natural sounds of all kinds.
Many people might disagree but I think anything in a bigger box is oppressive in a desktop setting. I do still have access to a sub and full range floorstanders - although I don't use them that much in a day to day context anymore.
I cannot afford Genelecs but if I could I'd probably have a pair.
I might consider the KRKs on price and if I listened to more electronic, pop - bass heavy stuff.
The Focals are new so I never considered them. Being late to the party is not always a bad thing and I'd certainly try and listen to them before buying again.
If I was being asked to pay the prices you are I'd have a very hard look at less expensive but still excellent offerings from Samson or Fostex.
My A3X bought in London with a 5 year guarantee, from a proper dealer (KMR) not a box shifter, cost at least half what you are quoting.
So what you should do is buy a return air ticket to London, spend some time round the big central dealerships, choose what suits you best, buy it, take them out of the box and 'distress' them a bit. put them in your suitcase with a PC and tell the customs man back home you'd had them for ages and never went anywhere without them. Allegedly.
