KRK RP5 G2 vs M-Audio BX5a deluxe

Guitar Center is currently selling the RP5 G2 for $99 each and I just bought a pair. I already have the BX5a and wanted to do an A/B test with them to see which monitors I want to keep. The only problem is that GC charges a 15% restocking fee if I open the box. I want to avoid this restocking fee if I decide to return it.

So how do these two compare? I will be using them with a Musiland Monitor 02 DAC & Dayton SUB100. I use them more for enjoyment than for monitoring.

My music preference is 50% hip-hop, 35% electronic (DnB/Dubstep/Electro house), 15% other (jazz, alternative, rock).

Please only provide feedback if you have heard and compared BOTH monitors

I haven't listened to any of these so unfortunately I'm not much help.  Although Musicians Friend is currently having a sale on RP6 G2s for only $150 each rather than $200 so you may want to check this out too

Do you have a link to the $99 RP5's or is that only in-store?

EDIT:  Nevermind I found them and they also have RP6s for $129 each!!

if you don't mind, for me it says:

Note: This is a Manufacturer's Refurbished item.

I went to GC with the intent of buying the RP6 until I realized how huge it was. I place my monitors on a stand on my computer desk.

Im surprised nobody has mentioned about this deal. Im not sure how long it has been this cheap for. I remember checking a couple weeks ago and they were MSRP price.

RP5 - $100

RP6 - $130

RP8 - $150

That's really an awesome deal. You can use them and sell them next year and make 100% of your money back.

I work for Sam Ash Music....and we sell the KRK's and the BX5a's. The BX5a's win this hands down....great balance...punchy but fast mid bass...pretty decent mids and open airy on the top...like more energetic top end w/o smearing...*far* better imaging with a bigger broader sound stage. The KRK's sound a bit "honky" in the mids and the top end is rolled off. The bass is slow and flatulent in comparison. The BX5a's will pair with your sub well. Just adjust the crossover on the sub to cross at 50-60hz and you're golden.

The Prodipe Pro 5 , are better than the krk RP5 and sell for roughly the same price.
