How to have it all?

I recently purchased an E-MU 0204 usb. Great hardware, love
the headphone amplification. I'm looking for a way to have it all though. I
have Soundsblaster X-Fi and some kind of digital sound on my computer
motherboard. As I said the 0204 is greta but, I'm missing out on effects in
games and movies, such as
DTS • Dolby Digital EX • EAX:, Pro-logic, pro-logic 2
etc. Can I hook the x-fi or the computer audio up to the 0204? if so, how?

In my case I have the digital output of my X-Fi Titanium looping back into the digital input of my 0404.  The X-Fi works normally but the digital to analog conversion takes place within the 0404 instead.  I did this before I got my X-Fi with my Audigy2 ZS also.

The 0204 lacks a digital input and that makes things more complicated.  You could run the analog output of your X-Fi into the analog input of the 0204.  This would mean an unnecessary digital to analog and analog to digital conversion on anything coming from the X-Fi but if it’s just gaming then maybe that doesn’t matter? Just make sure you have Foobar or whatever audio player you use set to use your 0204 directly via ASIO or w/e to avoid having your music go through those unnecessary conversions.

Hmm, I may give that a shot then. Thanks very much for the reply here and via pm. I really like the 0204. I'm going from Sony mbr xb700 up to BeyerDynamic 770 Pro 80s next week. What about an amp hooked to the 0204? Something that could fit between the 0204 and the headphones?
