Installed the new op-amp, popped it in and the heart started pumping again! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!11
All I can say is wow. - CMOY sound greatly improves volume and bass. Even cheap headphones tickle my ears with the vibrations from the bass.
Need to get myself a decent pair now :)
I think as a general debugging rule, it's probably a good idea to check the op-amp is working. JUST BUY TWO, unless they are too expensive
An easy way to see if the op-amp is blown, put it in the right way and switch the power on and off. You should be able to hear quiet electronic pops. If the volume is consistent in both ears it probably means the circuit is fine, just the op-amp thats blown. Replace and everything should be fine!
