Spitfire DAC > Foobar\Win7

Hey, fellow headphiles.

I'm busy setting up a Spitfire 24bit / 96Hz DAC and Cute Beyond HP amp for use on work PC.  I'm fairly new to using computer as source and thus have a few questions.

I got it set up via optical out on PC to DAC.  In Win7 sound, I have the option to set default sample rate and bit depth (default - 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz).  It also asks me to set supported sample rates under "supported formats".  Do I tick all supported sample rates from 32-96Hz and set to 2 channel, 24 bit under default format to be used in shared mode?

In Foobar under "playback" > "output" I use WASAPI: - Digital audio (S\PDIF).  There's an option to set "output data format", I assume I should set it to 24 bit?

Majority of my audio files are CD rips in FLAC.

Any advise would be much appreciated, thanks.

Since Spitfire does 24bits/96KHz, set bit depth and sampling rate accordingly. Also tick both boxes regarding exclusive mode. And do set foobar2000's output to 24-bit, the content played at lower bit depths aren't being affected and that way you can fully listen to any 24-bit content you have.

Thanks for your reply, I actually came across thread below soon after posting this query.

I’ve finally tried some 24bit\96KHz content, but only get static out of foobar, until I set to 24bit\48Hz or use foobar resampler (PPHS) to resample to 48000Hz

Am I doing something wrong. I noticed that the DAC uses the Burr Brown PCM1793: 24-Bit - 92 KHz Sampling?
