Student Wears Raw Denim Nudie Jeans for 15 months Without Washing - Page 2

True enough, Geruvah. There's this whole subculture that's been slowly growing over the last decade or so. It's not terribly new however, as Levi's jeans were originally somewhat like this, but to what extent I am unaware. I talked to a sales associate at a clothing store in town, and he told me that his dad had 20 pairs of jeans, all bought from Levi's from when he was a lad. I read that Levi's sold some of its equipment to the Japanese, where the raw denim culture is among the most popular in the world. It's all over this superfuture forum. While it's very popular with this particular group, I wouldn't say it's purely a hipster practise. It's not necessarily exclusive to skinny jeans and hipsters. You wouldn't be hard-pressed to find rock bands wearing raw denim, but I think they typically like the tighter fitting stuff. tongue.gif

You brother has certainly left an important and lasting skid mark on society with this research.  It's deeply inspiring to see someone wear pants day-in and day-out.

A very nice addendum would be that blog on your fanny pack you promised us years ago.

Truth be told, I'm sorta in this culture as well. But I'm not as into it as these guys are. A pair of $300 jeans would be wasted on me.

Wow, you still remember that? lol I hope you haven't been holding your breath all this time. I got rid of that a long time ago. I stopped using portable amps shortly after that too. I had my Creative Vision:M and PA2v2 velcro-ed together in there, but it got too bulky to carry, going from class to class. That's why I designed the Carrie.

At face value, yes, my brother's project may seem like a black mark on human history, but what really comes out is how he persevered with a project he enjoyed that most people spoke against. I think many an audiophile would resonate with the sentiment where someone truly enjoys their hobby and close friends and family don't understand it. It's a fun story about a young guy who wanted to make his perfect pair of jeans, so we're just having fun with it. smily_headphones1.gif

Of course I remember!  Steel trap my friend. Steel trap. wink.gif

You and your brother both have a keen, single-item fashion hyper-awareness. It no coincidence that you champion the fanny pack and he pants. It must be in the genes. Get it?  bigsmile_face.gif

Lol Interesting observation. Maybe it's more of a denim thing. I don't know if you remember my cut-offs. *facepalm*

Out of respect for you and having no desire for those memories to escape where I've locked them away, I won't post that link, but I think it only fair that you do. The people need to see.

Weird.

Never realized clothing would fade so much in color without the washer beating it out of them.

Who counts there underwear?

I seriously don't get how anyone finds jeans comfortable, even when broken in.   The first time I wore nylon hiking pants was the last time I wore jeans...

Call me crazy if you like!  :P

Yes, you're nuts :) I have a friend who has never worn a pair of jeans in the 15 years that I've known him.

I think that's gross and I wouldn't let this person in my home for a minute.
