Another Soundcard Thread

Thread Starter

So I know there are quite a few of these threads but all of the ones I have found are old...

First off: My only concern for this setup is gaming; directional audio is the main thing.

Anyways, I am looking at buying the AD700's. I'm currently running on onboard audio. I've read a ton about X-FI vs EAX vs 5000 other things. Anyways I'm pretty sure I need a X-FI soundcard for gaming. I wouldn't really like to spend more than $100 but looking at the other threads I'm guessing I will most likely have to.

Another side question: Will getting a 7.1 sound card make a difference with those headphones?

I'm looking for any recommendations or comments a choice of soundcard or my choice of headphones. Thanks in advance.

A X-Fi Fatality soundcard or X-Fi powered Auzentech will work best for what you look for. Yes, gaming means X-Fi wink.gif despite some people using Asus soundcards, they're just not "there".

AD700 is highly regarded as gaming headphones, though a bit light on bass, which shouldn't be of concern since you mainly plan on gaming.

Your headphones are stereo, so it's not really about the channels. You'll get anything that's at least 5.1, so you'll be all set.
