2.1 Setup Help Needed

So I'm looking at getting the MTX 5i, Dayton Sub-100, and Lepai Tripath as a decent cheap setup for my new PC. Though it was time I lay to rest my 8 year old Philips Hifi system. Now I have a ASUS P8P67 Pro mobo with a stereo out and sub out, (might buy a Xonar DX) but I'm not sure how I would hook all this up properly. Since I haven't really gotten into the audio field aside my AT M50 phones. I believe that I would run a RCA splitter from the stereo port to the amp then speaker wire to the sub and then speaker wire from the sub to the speakers. Then another RCA splitter from the sub port to the LR on the back of the sub. That's just my guess so far. Any help would be awesome and recommendations on what wires to buy.

I wouldn't use a motherboard onboard sound, it's likely to not be very good and bottleneck the whole system, get the Xonar DX  if you can or a inexpensive external dac.

To connect everything up you need a 3.5mm to stereo rca cable, this goes in the green socket on your motherboard and to the subs rca line-in, then you need a stereo rca to stereo rca cable this goes from the subs rca line out to the speaker amps rca in.

Yep I just ordered the Xonar actually. And thanks for the helpful advice.
