Thorens Motor issue

I have a Thorens TD240G turntable, purchased in the US in 2006, so it's not so old.  It hasn't been used in about 18 months, and now when I plugged it in, the table runs backwards, and slow.

Is this simply an issue with the transformer, or the motor itself?

It's likely to be an issue with the motor controller.

 

I know thats not much help but with no schematic

or the turntable in front of me it's all I can offer...
