Well, My mom just totally had a fit listing to my k500, she started crying and stuff....was mind blowing, so I wanted to get some K240's for her birthday, she dose not have a computer so I wanted get her an Mp3 player to use with them, would a sansaclip power them or should I get a sonywalkman*I know will power them* I do kind of want to conserve money so I don't want to buy an amp.

Wow... interesting hour and a half letting my mom audition my cans. So she loves the in your face aggressive sound of the Grados, but dislikes the Tinny sibilance. Loves the bass and pretty much overall sound of my Ultrasones. And loves the super precise and uncolored sound of the K500's... and really really loves mettalica on the Grados.

I think the new Sennheiser HD558 headphones could be a better option for ya, as they are a bit aggressive while retaining a smooth sound signature and they're easier to drive from portable sources than the K 240s.

Maybe you should actually get her some Grado SR60(i)'s. I remember people always saying the SR80(i)'s were brighter cans than the Grado SR60(i)'s. I loved my SR60's and I love my SR325i's even more, now. Also, Grado's are much easier to drive, and IMO, the lower models don't really need an amp to shine. If you're curious in going that route, I can let you know how my 325i's sound out of my Clip+.
