Do headphones survive in cold weather? - Page 3

I know this thread is old but I need some advice.

I'm in Toronto and I was wondering the same thing. I have AT M50 and it can get up there in terms of temperature in winter. Would the m50 be fine in -25 C or should I get a separate pair of cans for the winter season? I read the guy who lives in Nunavut and i'm thinking if he can survive then surely I can as well. But are the m50 prone to breaking due to temperature or anything weather related?

Thanks

If you buy those Russian Fischer products, I think you'd okay. They may be designed to endure minus 50 degree (celcius).

I don't know about cold. But my headphones have survived heat up to around 120° F down here.

No direct sunlight, though.

I almost thought you said 120° C. Now that would be so cool.

I had cable cracking problem on one of my old cheapo headphone. Also if left to cool down I wouldn't pump max volume into the headphones before they warm up a bit from body temperature. You should even hear that cooled down drivers sound a bit different.

Never really had any issues with my gear during Norwegian winters.

Regularly going at -20 C (-4F), my K518s, UEs and Shures do just fine.

Using IEMs in -20 does make your ears a bit cold though.

In Soviet Russia, headphone freezes you.
