I am considering trying electrostats. I want to get the Lambda original and SRD-7 in particular. As for the rest of the setup, I don't know.
I was told that I really need to upgrade my source for this kind of high end setup. Granted, I do only have a uDac, but I fear that if I spend $250+ I may not hear that great of a difference.
My prospective setup is uDac>T-Amp (Dayton DTA-1)>SRD-7>Lambda. The cost of the SRD-7 and Lambda is $350. Tack on the T-Amp that's $385 total. My budget is $500 not including the sale of my uDac.
For that surplus of around $200 (500-385=115, 115+70=185), what DAC should I get? I don't mind buying used. I would prefer USB but I believe I also have optical out on my PC.
