Need help getting a phono preamp

Thread Starter

I bought a Kenwood KD-47F from a thrift store, it included a Shure Presence 2 stylus and I was wondering a) Do you know if it's an MM or MC? or do I have a totally different understanding on what those mean? b) Do any of you have any info. on the turntable? c) I'm thinking of getting a cheap phono preamp and was looking for suggestions. Anything below $100 would be the best as I bought  the turntable for only $10 and am just starting out. I did use the search but could not find any one definite answer on my questions so I figured I should just ask. And set-up would be: Turntable>Phono Preamp>Home Theater>Speakers

Many thanks! smile_phones.gif

That cartridge should be Moving Magnet style.

Take a look at this preamp, I have it and it works great.  http://www.amazon.com/TC-750-Audiophile-Phono-Pre-amp-Preamplifier/dp/B000A36LQ4/ref=pd_cp_MI_1  It is pretty well priced at under 50 dollars too!
