CMoy kit or component help (UK)

I've purchased some DT770s and want to build a cheap amp to go with them however finding it very difficult in rip-off Britain! The best I've found is Fernells however at the prospective price for parts I'd be much better off buying a pre-built unit from eBay and paying to get it sent to the UK. Maplin although cheaper doesn't sell the OPA2132 op-amp which seems to be most commonly used in CMoys although I could probably pick up the rest of the parts there. Is there anywhere in the UK where I can pick up all the parts I need (minus a case) or anyone here who sells a CMoy kit? It needs to run off of a single 9v battery because I plan on wiring up a DC jack for desktop use as well.

Looking at cases would I be able to use these or would I have to use these, the latter seem to be the commonly used ones so I guess there is some height issue from the caps?

If it is only the opamp holding you back, there are substitutes.  Check out tangentsoft.net and look at the CMOY tutorial, i'm pretty sure there is an opamp rolling section somewhere.  If are set on the OP2132, I'm pretty sure a fellow head-fi someone could mail you one in letter mail.  I might even have one kicking around.

I checked that bit for alternatives but the selection at Maplin is quite poor to be honest and it's been quite a while since I designed a circuit for anything so I'm not entirely confident in my ability to design one for a different op-amp yet. I looked specifically at the OPA2132P(A) so there were fewer deviations from the standard CMoy but a little tweaking here and there shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

I can't seem to get on maplin, but some drop in replacments for a cmoy include OPA2227PA and AD8620, among many others....  The AD8620 is only available as soic, so you'll need a browndog soic to dip8 adapter.  You can actually buy an 8620 premounted on a brown dog if you don't mind paying.  ( http://cimarrontechnology.com/so8to8-pindipadapterpn970601-3.aspx)

Also, did you check shipping costs from digikey?  it's very reasonable shipping to Canada at least.

I didn't check Digi-key because the CMoy parts list directed me to the US site (which I assumed would be expensive delivery) and didn't realise there was a UK site too. I chcked it last night however the delivery cost is still rather high at just less than the parts cost (£12 delivery, £19 for the parts). I'm going to see if anyone I know would buy a built unit from me as an order at £50 delivery is free so it would save me a bit.

Some UK suppliers:

I got 99% of what I needed from Mouser. They're based in the US I think so delivery is £12, unless you spend over £50 in which case it's free. Of all the suppliers that are UK based (or will ship to the UK), Mouser seem to have the most comprehensive selection. I got my order up to £50 by buying multiples of everything (as I'm bound to make mistakes since this is my first attempt at building a CMOY and I'm new to soldering).

I got the ALPS pot from here as Mouser didn't stock it.

You can get PC Board recommended on Tangent's site here. They have an eBay presence, which is how I brought mine as I think the shipping was cheaper.

This site has a decent selection, a step up from Maplins at least. They don't seem as good as Mouser, RS or Digi-key, etc., though. They also have an eBay presence.
