101 headphones you should try before you die

There are certain things we all want to do before we die, you know the so called bucket list so I thought to myself been an audio enthusiast, as I am yet to get the privilege of calling myself an audiophile and this being a head-fi it kind of would be nice to have a thread opened where people with more experience could post the name of the headphones and perhaps a short brief statement why they suggest others to try this headphone before they die. Remember it is purely an informative for people like me who are a noob.

Happy posting and remember picture plus a link to the thread/article which talks about the headphone.

The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II have been around for decades and still going strong. Punchy bass, aggressive sound, and a very unique design.

Of course, while we're at it, we might as well throw in all the big flagships like T1, LCD-2, HE-6, W5000 and so on. I haven't heard any big, $1000+ headphones, although I definitely want to hear them, not to mention own at least one of them. Maybe some time in the future, I guess.

I was gonna say the HD25 but havent get it, yet. hope they are everything i've read.

Nobody has mentioned the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 yet? It's certainly a great value for what you get, and even if you don't like it, it should serve as a benchmark to determine what you will like.

I'll nominate a few others, even though I haven't personally heard them. The AKG K1000 would have to be on the list, simply because there hasn't been anything like it before or since. The Koss PortaPro and Pro4AA because of their legacy. The beyerdynamic DT48 because it was the first dynamic stereo headphone ever made (back in 1937, in fact). Finally, the Joe Grado HP1000 because of the Grado legacy it set in motion (and the higher standards in headphone sound it established), not to mention the difference between Joe's and John's ears.

Pro4AA ? really?

I've been meaning to try one of those series but cant convince myself that it will worth it.
