People won't buy these "high end" skullcandys and then go, oh now i wanna try sennheiser, beyer, AKG. They will just think that these expensive skullcandys are the pinnacle of headphones. Just like beats owners think they have the best phones ever cuz they're $300 and sound pretty good (not for that price range IMO).

I don't think so as I think most people who are going to buy these wont even have heard about M50, SRH440 etc.

The skullcandy aviator looks so nice! But the fact that its endorsed by a celebrity brings back horrible memories of a certain monster under the bed

I like that the mix master has a mute button on the cup, I wish more headphones would have this option.
I think you should listen to them before making that assertion.
I also think that these "high-end" Skullcandy products could be good gateway drugs for other brands.

Its a step in the right direction, I personally don't like the look of them, but at least Skullcandy is trying.

I don't think so; they're trying to raise up the market they have.
Yeah, that would suck to have money to pay for the posts you make without having to pay.
Like it or not, it's the manufacturers that pay for your fun here; your should be glad the market is growing and maturing.

The site already has a couple sponsors who sell merchandise from Skullcandy and Monster, and it hasn't substantially affected the community's attitude towards those products.
I don't see a reason to worry about it yet, if ever.

Sure I'll give the Aviator a try. I'll skip that DJ thing though. That one is just too ugly. They need to redesign that horrible logo. Looks like something Hot-topic would use. *shudders*
I wonder how it'll compare to my trusty HD25-1 II. The TMA-1 didn't dethrone it, can't imagine this one will either but I'm open minded. Well, kinda.
When do these come out? Good looks and good sound is a win combo imo.

Sad.. sad.. truth..
But if they get audiophile interest, it's possible that the communities will share information more readily.
Head-Fi types don't ussually fraternize with Bose, Beats or (especially not) skullcandy owners. (Or if they do, they just say "[Bose, Beats, Skullcandy] really suck.", and the owner goes into denial because of the purchase price of his item.)
If the high end skullcandies are actually a good buy as Jude says, then Head-fi types won't hesitate to talk to those who own them... and be able to feel like they aren't idiots. And as doing so, it'll create a better enviroment for recommendations towards other headphone brands.

I bet the FIX earphones will result on par with say a more balanced FMJ or maybe Sennheiser CX300- 500.
