Which do you think is the most addicting melody/riff

I've always been a fan of riff heavy music, so I decided to start this thread and see which is your favorite. By no means do we have to restrict this to any genre/instrument, so I included melody in the description to make it more general. So yea, I want to know which riff/melody in a song you think is the most addicting! Oh and please try and include a video and where in the video said melody/riff starts

I'll start it off..

I've always been a fan of melodic, riff heavy metal. Celtic folk metal best showcases what I truly like. This is a song by a band called Eluvietie. They are one of the best celtic folk metal bands out there. Wait until the chorus, and you'll see exactly what I mean. That flute melody is just too addicting! I play this song over and over and it has yet to get old. Again, for those of you who aren't so much into metal I ask that you bear with me until the chorus so you can hear the flute melody, its worth it.

Walk of Life for melody, Profane Omen - Throw Your Stones for riff.

Tough call. For melodies that sink a deep hook, I'd have to cite the Beatles, the Beach Boys and the Elephant 6 collective, in general. The past couple of years, "Cubist Castle" and "Black Foliage" (both Olivia Tremor Control) have put their hooks deeply into me.

"Hideaway" on "Black Foliage" gets me every time.

Great recommendations! I find that if I'm ever really into older prog rock it would be The Mooney Suzuki - Alive and Amplified, and Gentle Giant - Free Hand

I remember being a kid and seeing the old suzuki car commercial, and falling in instant love with the song that they used. About two years later, I heard it on the radio (totally by chance) and all the memories of that commercial came flooding back to me. So I google'd it, and thats how I was introduced to the Mooney Suzuki. I now go through infrequent but extreme phases where this song is all that dominates my playlist. I personally believe that the guitar riff is years ahead of its time. I certainly wasn't expecting a groove'd out, sideburn filled guitar player to be rocking it, but hell, thats what makes a great musician.

There are some songs that really just strike a chord with you. It makes you want to hit the repeat button over and over again, and you would too except you fear you might wear out the song.

According to Wikipedia the Mooney Suzuki started in 1996, and the Alive and Amplified album came out in 2004.  Those dates don't strike me as being particularly old.

That Gentle Giant song was pretty cool though; the guitar work reminded me a lot of Jerry Garcia.

True enough, I simply assumed they were older due to the way the video is shot, and the outrageous getup that the lead singer is sporting.

Bittersweet Symphony is another of mine, especially in this Moby remix.

The main song in Requiem For a Dream is timeless for me. Its by Clint Mansell with the Kronos Quartet and is absolutely beautiful. Not to mention the movie itself. My god, what a film..

No question. The coolest riff of all time is Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs

I already voted once, but I've just fallen in love with a melody that I would now like to place above Walk of Life on my own chart (a feat to behold, considering how legendary Walk of Life is).

As for the riff, one of my all time favorite songs:

That first song was neat, but I'm not a fan of Iron Maiden's lead singer's voice. And feel free to 'vote' as many times as you wish, I've already done so a few times!
