why foobar? - Page 4

1. Got v2. My tags are working just fine in Winamp. Still getting columns claiming I have UNKNOWN Artist, UNKNOWN Track, etc.

2. Figured out the search. Thanks!

foobar2000 doesn't support ID3v2 tags without a plugin (and never will... Developer decision.)

Though the plugin (component) is included in the download package itself.

ID3v2 has a possibility of corrupting MP3's. I've had a few instances where v2 messed up my MP3, but it's a rare thing.

Well, actually not. At least not here it wasn't. The home page lists that component to be included in "normal" install, but I didn't have it. (0.7.7b)

Also, my tags seem to be in bit of disarray, too.. *Half are missing?* Oh well, should run masstagger sometime, as EAC settings generate v2 only or something..

Why WIndows?

Foobar is a very basic player. Plugin are not all very mature (not debugged, not documented and miss very basic functionnality).

J-River is a very complete media center ... years ahead foobar but it's a commercial product.
