Take KSC75 drivers and put them into a nonfunctioning UR40?

So the right earcup driver in my Koss UR40 suddenly stopped working, and I was just about to throw it out, but I wonder:

Can I take the drivers out of a Koss KSC75 and put them into the my UR40's housing without having to recable / soldier any wires?  I don't have a KSC75 yet, but I was thinking of ordering it instead of another UR40 and saving a little money (and having a little fun).

Would it fit?  Has this been done before?  If I do this, I would still get the same awesome soundstage as I had before, right?  What do you think?

edit:  I realize that I could take advantage of Koss's lifetime warranty, but the cost of shipping it to them and the $6 ship back, plus the wait time really turns me off.  I'd rather just go order a new pair.

Fit : Maybe, measure.

Done : Possibly.

Soundstage : No idea, try.

Thoughts : Do it. ;)

If I recall correctly, the UR40 uses the exact same driver as the KSC-75. However, if you wanted to do this, you may have to remove some of the plastic outer housing from the KSC-75 drivers before mounting them. As to being able to do it without soldering, that depends on how the lines are routed out of the cups.

wait wait wait

Doesn't the UR40 have a lifetime warranty?

Send a check for $6 along with the UR40's to their factory and they will replace/repair them no matter what happened to them.

EDIT: just read your edit.

how much could shipping be?

I doubt it'll cost more than $20 total ($6 + shipping)

Right, but at that price, couldn't I just get a new UR40, or even cheaper, a new pair of KSC75s?  And besides, I modded the UR40's a bit, (taking out foam behind the drivers and ripping up the felt in front of the drivers) so I doubt they'd still cover that.  Also the wait time for them to receive my shipment, for them to work on it, and then for them to ship it back... I don't really have any backup headphones to hold off that long, none as good as the UR40 anyway.

And yes, Appophylite, the UR40s sport the KSC75 drivers, which was why I thought this would work.

After the UR40 stopped working, I was actually thinking this was a great time for me to try out a different headphone, but honestly, I can't see anything under $70 trumping the combination of comfort, soundstage, and sound of a modded UR40.  Is there anything?  I tried the UR55, but I hate the comfort on those.  I don't know what they were thinking when they dropped the UR40 pads in favor of those foam triangles.

It's a no-questions-asked warranty.

I am pretty sure you could run them over with a car, and they'd still replace them.

New KSC75's are $16 on amazon

UR40's are... $28.. (oh, wow, cheap)

The time it'll take you to research, and replace the driver has to be worth at least $4.

If you want to penny pinch, I'd just send them in for warranty..

I am pretty sure you could ship them for less than $10.. I just said $20 for some buffer

If you're not patient enough to wait for the warranty, just pay the $28 and get some new ones.

You're putting in far too much effort to say $12 >_>
